Gall Small-Scale Testing Laboratory
Force sensing capacity spans one nN to several kNs, and this range is sufficient to characterize the thermomechanical behavior of shape memory polymers. The displacement resolution of the various approaches depends on the type of measurement being performed and the selected strain measurement devices, but reaches the nm range when appropriate and necessary. Some of the basic equipment includes:
- MTS Nanoindentor XP, 1 nN -10 mN load range, 15 mm stroke range
- MTS NanoBionix, 50 nN -1 N load range, 1 mm stroke range
- TA Instruments DMA Q800, 100 mN - 18 N load range, 10 mm stroke, -150°C to 600°C temperature range, Non-corrosive fluid environments.
- MTS Insight, 50 mN - 2 kN load range, 750 mm stroke, -150°C to 600°C temperature range, Non-corrosive fluid environments.
- Various strain measuring devices including a non-contact MTS laser extensometer.
- TA Instruments DSC.
- In-vitro bovine testing model.
- UV-Photopolymerization setup.
